I jumped into Cat Devon’s Entity series on the fourth book, Tall, Dark and Immortal, having not read any of the previous books. This story focuses on a vampire and vampire-slayer couple who are fated to be on opposing sides of the primary conflict. Alex Sanchez is a tough vampire cop and Keira Turner is just your everyday journalist…or so she thought. When a series of blood bank thefts catch Keira’s attention, her investigation leads her to Alex and his non-human status becomes a serious factor for both of them as they warm to one another.

The book has humor and action, with an interesting line for the heroine, but I almost felt that it was too short despite hovering around 300 pages in length. I wanted to see more interaction and discovery between Keira and Alex, because things seemed to progress so quickly. I would definitely love to find out more about the world the author has created for her paranormal and human characters, which is going to require starting at the first book in the series. There were parts of the book that I think would have benefitted from a background provided by reading previous books in the series, but it stood alone just fine and I was able to track characters from previous books and some of their back stories with the detail provided. As a first read for this author and series, it was a good read overall.

This has been a year that I feel like it has been extremely difficult to uncover a deviant, paranormal novel that is worth raving about. To be fair there have been a few exceptions and Tall, Dark and Immortal is at the top of my list as thankfully Devon rescued me from the drowning slump that I found myself in.

As the title states Alex is the faultless, vampire hero that I want to find in such novels. I savored Alex's determination to be both vampire and to be human. In many ways the vampire that he had become overpowered his humanity which is exactly what I wanted to see. He became almost possessed with Keira, the heroine who just happens to come from a long line of vampire slayers.

The chemistry between these two just erupted from the start. It was slightly twisted and dark just as an immoral/mortal relationship should be and yet the darker tone of the book did not overwhelm the romance. The attraction shared between both Alex and Keira was believable from the start and just as hot.

Having highlighted the romance (one of the best parts) of the book I want to include how much I enjoyed the plot. It was full of suspense and action as Alex and Keira sought to uncover the mystery behind the robberies of the local, blood banks.

Oddly as it may sound this book does not lack anything-as I have mentioned it has romance, action, steamy scenes and a vampire hero that is worth surrendering your heart to. To put it simply-Devon's last book was perhaps her best book and I know that this is one paranormal romance that I will continue to reread time and time again.
The chemistry between the characters is great and the plot kept me interested. I love this series and am sad there will not be any more from Ms. Devon. Her death is a loss to all her fans.
I loved how it started. and then all of the gifts she didn't even know she had was so cool! I loved they brought pru back and now I so need to know if her friend that was being held prisoner can get her powers back! and omg....loved alex! I had to go back and read the one with brennan to see if they ever really said who he was. thought it was great and cant wait till the next one
I love this author and she has outdone herself with this one. A fitting end to her novels this story has fun characters with a strong human female lead and an equally strong vampire. They team together to solve a mystery and team up for their HEA. You will never be disappointed in Cat Devon's novels and the author is equally intelligent and kind hearted. I enjoyed this right to the last word. A winner!
Couldn't wait for this to come out, after reading the first Cat Devon's--and this one I started reading the minute I got it, couldn't put it down. I was never much of a vampire fan--but Cat Devon's take on vampires is so fresh and different. The characters are witty and fun, the language delightful, the plotting both twisty and yet smooth as silk to read. An absolute winner. Depth to the plot--and the characters--but like it says on the back=="if they try to solve this case together, he'll have to fight the urge to kiss her...or kill her." How fun is that?!! If that isn't a delicious conflict, don't know what is. Highly recommend.
Miss Devons stories keeps on getting better and better. This story has a new interesting new match, Alex on of the few of the Latin blood vampire that has a destiny that reached all the way back the Crusades but was turned against his will in Iwo Jima when WW2 was happening. Keria a reporter also has a strong connection the one of the most hated person in the vampire world, a hunter named The Executioner from the Great Chicago Fire of 18something is also her grandfather. After finding the truth about vamps her finds a cop that is also a vamp and confronts him. Next thing she knows is hes killing off fledglings and keeping her prisoner in Vamptown against the others orders. Even worse when they find out who she is and is the blame for the blood being stolen from the blood banks and biotech companies. These two are at odds through out the story but they might be at odds but the connection/ Longing/The One plays a big part from the beginning.
